The Government of Pakistan has officially announced that it will recommend former U.S. President Donald J. Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. This recommendation comes in recognition of his key diplomatic role during the recent India-Pakistan crisis.
In a statement issued late Friday, the government said the world saw unprovoked Indian aggression that violated Pakistan’s sovereignty. The attack caused the deaths of innocent civilians, including women, children, and the elderly.
Pakistan responded by launching Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, a carefully planned military action aimed at protecting its territory. The operation was carried out in a way that avoided civilian harm, the statement said.
During this tense time, President Trump played a key role by engaging in serious diplomacy with both Pakistan and India. His efforts helped stop the conflict from getting worse and led to a ceasefire. This prevented a larger war between two nuclear-armed countries.
"His actions proved that he is a true peacemaker who believes in solving conflicts through dialogue," the statement said.
Pakistan also appreciated President Trump’s willingness to help solve the Kashmir issue, which is a major cause of instability in the region. The government said that lasting peace in South Asia is not possible without implementing UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir.
The statement added that President Trump’s leadership during the 2025 crisis showed his continued commitment to peace and diplomacy. It also expressed hope that he will continue playing a positive role in promoting stability, especially in the Middle East, including in Gaza and Iran.
